Dear Friends and Colleagues,

BorisThe 11th World Congress on Inflammation will be organized by the Brazilian Society of Immunology (SBI) as its XXXVIII Congress, in collaboration with the International Association of Inflammation Societies. As we know, considerable advances have occured in the field of inflammation. Recent genetic, immunological, biochemical and microbiological breakthroughs have opened new insights into this field, which accounts for novel therapeutic approaches in, for instance, Crohn's disease. This generates a growing need for new basic approaches, particularly in immunology and pharmacology, and to discuss effective and safe strategies for treatment.

With the Organizing and Scientific Committees, we hope to build an original program concerning basic science, applied biology and clinical research, where state of the art views of the recent advances in the field will be fostered. During this 4 day Congress we will bring together scientific and clinical leaders from all over the world, as well as young scientists and newcomers to the field of inflammation, in order to lead lively and interactive debates. This will also be an opportunity to meet Latin American R & D. Bio-pharmaceutical companies will particularly be in contact with the growing market of Brazilian bio-medical research.

The congress will take place in the modern convention center of Natal, Northwest Brazil, from 21 to 25 September 2013.

You are cordially invited to join us at this occasion.

In addition to an exciting scientific program, you will benefit from the wonderful Natal, with extraordinary beaches, food and historical background, from the 16th Century to its role in the Second World War. Natal, a medium sized boosting town, opens the way for local, regional and national tourism, sport, music and gastronomy.

I look forward to welcoming and hosting you in Natal in September 2013, and sincerely hope that you will join us to make this endeavor a success.

B. Boris Vargaftig
Executive President of the Congress
